Rehabilitation works began in April on the 3km runway that was initially constructed in the 1960s.

The project was partly financed by the federal government under the Airport Critical Infrastructure Program.

GTAA said that the project was finished on time and on budget.

The rehabilitation project is claimed to extend the runway’s life by 30 years and improve its safety.

The project also included upgrades to 1,800 LED lights.

In April, Toronto Pearson held a groundbreaking ceremony for the project.

At that time, GTAA president and CEO Deborah Flint said: “This rehabilitation is about building essential infrastructure that is required for the economy of the region, the province, and the nation.
