The Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA) has announced that Orlando International Airport’s (MCO) new $2.8bn Terminal C will be opened this month.
Spread over 300 acres of land, the 15-gate terminal will be able to accommodate up to 20 aircraft.

It will feature informational video displays in the ticket halls, concession hub and gate areas.
GOAA said that Terminal C underlines MCO’s commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.
It is one of the first airport campuses to be built in line with Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) v4 standards.
The terminal is claimed to be the US’ first integrated, multimodal airport terminal for rail, air and ground transportation.

GOAA CEO Kevin Thibault said: “We strive to use cutting-edge technology and best practices in everything we do.
“Above all else, we seek to recognise the many diverse types of passengers who use our airport.”
Fentress Architects designed Terminal C by coordinating with architect-of-record HNTB, with Hensel Phelps and a Turner-Kiewit joint venture serving as construction managers for the project.
Vanderlande Industries was responsible for designing, building, operating and maintaining the baggage handling system, while Burns Engineering was the project’s primary technology engineer.
Burns Engineering project manager Greg Spence said: “Terminal C’s technology amenities put passengers in control of their airport journey.
“Features that enhance the passenger experience include common-use technologies, enhancements like automated airport screening lanes, and mind-blowing immersive multimedia entertainment.
“We anticipate passengers will particularly appreciate the convenience of the biometric facial and iris recognition gates that simplify the boarding process.”
In February last year, GOAA reached a contract with AERO BridgeWorks to deploy ADB SAFEGATE’s Safedock Advanced Visual Docking Guidance System and SafeControl Apron Management.
