Breeze Airways is set to open a new base at Rhode Island TF Green International Airport (PVD) in 2023, with plans to expand its PVD network to at least 20 routes over the next five years.
The American airline also intends to have around 20 weekly departures by the end of next year and 44 weekly departures by 2027.

The carrier will base up to eight aircraft at PVD, with the move anticipated to create 250 full-time roles.
Among the positions expected to be created include pilots and flight attendants, as well as support staff and maintenance personnel.

By GlobalDataBreeze has been serving Providence since July last year. At present, it runs flights to five destinations, including Charleston, South Carolina; Jacksonville, Florida; Norfolk and Richmond, Virginia; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
It plans to increase its services to Savannah, Georgia, and Los Angeles, California, next year, and start seasonal flights to Columbus.

The airline will apply for tax credits under the Qualified Jobs Incentive Program to enable the launch, stated a release from Rhode Island Governor Daniel J McKee’s Office.
According to this release, the state could offer the airline up to $300,000 in tax credits over ten years under this programme. However, this is subject to the approval of the Rhode Island Commerce Corporation and will not be provided till the promised job opportunities are created.
In addition, the state will be involved in destination marketing to attract travellers to Rhode Island.
Breeze will also apply for funding via the state Air Service Development Fund to support ground handling operations at the Rhode Island base.
