The US Transportation Department has announced funding of $968.6m to improve infrastructure at 85 airports across the country, Reuters reported.
This capital will be used to construct new terminals and air traffic control towers as well as increase gate capacity, reconfigure security checkpoints and add baggage claim belts.

US Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg was quoted by the news agency as saying: “America is a country that brought modern aviation to the world and yet around the world in most rankings of airport quality, not one of our airports rank among the Top 25.
“The existing system and existing levels of funding have been adequate.”
Los Angeles International airport has been allocated $50m to rebuild its terminal roadway system and reconfigure its central entrance.
The Boston airport will receive $62m for overhauling Terminal E facilities and replacing arrival roadways, while $50m will be awarded to Orlando airport for the construction of four new gates.
