Currently, S7, which is said to be Russia’s second-largest airline, utilises 17 Embraer 170 models on domestic routes.

The Brazilian firm stated that all its parts, maintenance and technical support services for customers that are affected by the sanctions are suspended.

In a statement sent to CNN Brasil Business, Embraer said: “Embraer is closely monitoring the evolution of the action and has been complying and will continue to comply with the international sanctions imposed on Russia and certain regions of Ukraine.”

Embraer ranks as the fourth largest aircraft maker globally, after Airbus, Boeing and Bombardier Aerospace.

In 2012, the aeroplane manufacturer secured the regulatory approval for its biggest regional jets to fly in Russia.

With this move, Embraer follows in the footsteps of other aircraft manufacturers such as Airbus and Boeing.

Earlier this week, the two aviation giants said that they will halt all spare part deliveries to Russia in response to the country’s invasion of Ukraine.

“We have suspended major operations in Moscow and temporarily closed our office in Kyiv,” a Boeing spokesperson said. Airbus too ceased delivery of spare parts to Russia and support services for Russian airlines.
