Under the $12.6m programme management contract, JetBlue will receive assistance from Parsons to execute the design and construction of this new passenger terminal.

The $300m T5 at FLL will feature five gates.

Parsons connected communities president Peter Torrellas said: “Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International airport is one of the fastest-recovering US airports, with passenger traffic approaching 2019 pre-pandemic levels. As we continue a return to air travel, it is critical for airports and airlines alike to prepare for passenger and service expansion.

“Our aviation experts have served South Florida for more than 20 years and we look forward to building on that legacy in partnership with JetBlue and the Broward County Aviation Department.”

The new terminal facility is being built as part of the Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport’s master plan development.

The aim is to meet the increase in airline and passenger demand in future.

Parsons has planned, designed and managed the infrastructure of over 450 airports globally.

In November last year, JetBlue Airways expanded its codeshare agreement with Iceland’s flag carrier Icelandair to enable connections between Europe and North America for passengers.

The agreement enabled passengers to book the new codeshare flights from the website of JetBlue.
