Gold Coast Airport (GCA) in Australia has commenced the installation of four aerobridges, as part of its terminal expansion project.
These aerobridges are being placed separately by using a dual 150t crane lift from the northern to the southern end of the extension.

Each installation will be completed after several hours and require a team of ten workers.
Weighing 31t, each 22m-long aerobridge will extend to 40m after the placement.
These structures, under the process of deployment, will be attached to large hold-down bolts, which will have a 2m length and 1.4m width.
Queensland Airports Limited CEO Chris Mills said: “Passengers would get a better understanding of the future look and feel, and operation of the terminal when the aerobridges were in place.

These green-glass-tinted aerobridges arrived at the airport last week and will serve both international and domestic flights.
According to GCA, these new structures will offer views of the Gold Coast and northern New South Wales (NSW) for all travellers.
GCA’s terminal expansion is expected to offer ‘a significant change in space and experience for passengers’ after its opening next year.
The terminal will be expanded on three levels, which will double its passenger capacity.
It will feature a large departure lounge, additional retail space, new boarding facilities, baggage handling, and border control facilities.
In 2020, the Australian Governments of Queensland and NSW collaborated with GCA for the construction of a new southern entryway.
