Amazon has launched its $1.5bn air cargo hub at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG), which will serve as the central US hub for the e-commerce giant’s air cargo network.
The Amazon Air Hub in Kentucky is an 800,000ft² sortation facility with seven buildings, an expansive new ramp for aircraft parking, and a multi-storey vehicle parking building.

Sitting on a campus of more than 600 acres, the sortation facility incorporates robotics technology for moving and organising packages, interlinked conveyors, along with ergonomic workstations for staff.
In addition, the structure will comprise a solar rooftop, which is expected to be in place over the next year.
The entire energy produced from the panels will be sent directly into the electrical grid of the local community.
All regular, full-time employees will be provided with Amazon’s wages of up to $19.50 per hour as well as benefits including medical, vision, and dental and a 401(k).

Amazon Air is currently present in over 40 locations across the US. The company launched its European air hub at Germany’s Leipzig/Halle Airport last year.
Recently, Amazon Global Air signed an agreement with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to redevelop and expand two current air cargo facilities at Newark Liberty International Airport in the US.
