Last month, the UK Government reportedly planned to lift quarantine restrictions for fully vaccinated travellers coming from the EU and the US.

From 2 August, the ten-day quarantine requirement after arriving in England was lifted for travellers fully vaccinated with the US and EU-approved vaccines. However, France arrivals were previously excluded from this rule.

In addition to France, the UK has now also added six other European nations, including Germany, to the Green list.

Passengers arriving from these countries can avoid quarantine, even if they are not fully vaccinated.

Furthermore, the UK has eased restrictions for passengers arriving from countries including India, Bahrain, the UAE and Qatar.

These countries, which were previously on the country’s red list, were moved to the amber list.

All these changes will come into effect on 8 August 2021.

The announcement by the government is expected to help airlines and tourism companies in the country, which were hit hard by the pandemic.

In June, Manchester Airports Group (MAG) in the UK reportedly teamed up with Irish airline company Ryanair to launch a legal action against the government over the travel traffic light system.

The UK Government introduced the traffic light system, which rates countries green, amber or red based on their Covid risk.

The litigation was also supported by British Airways owner IAG, TUI, Easyjet and Virgin Atlantic.

By launching a legal challenge, the companies sought more transparency on how the countries are being classified.

However, the High Court ruled in favour of the government.
