As a result, the airport will be able to handle increased demand from passengers when the UK Government restarts international travel.

The London City facility will provide all the government-approved Covid-19 testing solutions.

Travellers coming from amber-listed nations will be offered a same-day Test to Release service, allowing them to end their quarantine on day five after testing negative.

While a Lateral Flow Antigen test will cost around $45.85 (£33), around $91.71 (£66) will be charged for PCR testing.

The passengers will be able to avail of the same-day result LAMP tests for about $94.49 (£68).

The facility’s services are available for travellers flying to and from the airport.

At present, passengers flying to ‘Green’ and Amber’ nations need to take numerous tests before their departure and on their arrival.

Those returning from ‘Amber’ countries are also required to fulfil a pre-departure testing obligation before arriving in the UK.

Prior to their UK departure, passengers can place orders for their test kit and book their appointment at least three full working days in advance.

Thereafter, passengers are required to complete their test through video consultation with a medical practitioner up to 72 hours before their return flight for obtaining applicable certification via email.

Manchester Airports Group (MAG) in the UK teamed up with Irish airline company Ryanair to launch a legal action against the government over the travel traffic light system.

The UK Government introduced the traffic light system, which rates countries as green, amber or red based on their Covid risk.
