Airport operator Fraport AG subsidiary Fraport Slovenija has unveiled a new passenger terminal at Slovenia’s Ljubljana Airport (LJU).
Entailing an investment of around $25.16m (€21m), the new 10,000m² terminal has been developed to provide increased services.

The new facility has doubled the airport’s terminal capacity to handle more than 1,200 passengers an hour.
The aim is to enable the airport to fulfil future travel and tourism requirements.
Fraport executive board member Dr Pierre Dominique Prümm said: “We are confident the terminal will strengthen Ljubljana Airport’s competitive position in the region and internationally. This terminal is a symbol of stepping forward into the new future.”
The terminal will include shops, restaurants, and other amenities. Initially, more than 1,200m² will be available for retailing.

By GlobalDataThe terminal, constructed in two years, is expected to commence operations from July.
The construction is said to have been finished within the budget and on schedule.
The new terminal has been developed just in time before the commencement of Slovenia’s six-month Presidency of the Council of the European Union, which will start at the beginning of next month.
So far, Fraport has invested more than $71.89m (€60m) for introducing new facilities, including the Fraport Aviation Academy, a new fire station and the new terminal, at the airport.
Furthermore, Fraport will soon begin the construction of a solar energy facility at the airport.
This solar facility is being developed as part of Fraport Group’s climate and environmental initiatives in Slovenia and globally.
Since 2014, Fraport Slovenija has been handling Ljubljana Airport.
In February, the Fraport Group and TAV Airports joint venture extended its contract to manage Turkey’s Antalya International Airport (AYT) by two years, up to the end of 2026, through an agreement with the Turkish Government.
