Germany-based airline Eurowings is starting operations at Malmö Airport (MMX) in Sweden via a new direct service to Kosovo’s capital Pristina within the next months.
At present, the low-cost carrier operates at Stockholm Arlanda (ARN) and Göteborg Landvetter (GOT).

With the gradual aviation recovery, the number of direct routes and travellers are increasing at MMX.
The airport is also planning to reinstate several international routes within the next months.
Swedavia aviation business director Elizabeth Axtelius said: “The whole Balkan region is a popular destination both for holiday-makers and for friends and family visiting from Malmö. Having more direct routes is important for growth in this region and access will be important with the restart after the pandemic all across Sweden.
“The pace of vaccinations and travel restrictions are crucial to the recovery in Sweden and in the rest of the world and we look forward to the situation when our passengers are able to travel again.”

By GlobalDataFrom 28 June and through the middle of September, the carrier will operate two weekly flights from MMX to Priština International Airport (PRN).
Recently, the Swedish Civil Aviation Administration commissioned the new remote tower centre (RTC) at Stockholm Arlanda Airport for distant air traffic control (ATC) at some Swedavia airports.
Kiruna Airport (KRN) became the first of Swedavia’s airports to be managed from RTC Stockholm, marking its introduction of remote tower services.
Before the end of 2022, three other Swedavia airports, namely Åre Östersund Airport (OSD), Umeå Airport (UME) and MMX, are expected to launch remote air traffic services.
