Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has announced that all TSA officers will have to wear facial protection at all US airports.
This measure is expected to reduce the spread of Covid-19 and safeguard the health and safety level in the airports.

However, it is still optional for TSA officers to wear protective eyewear when they are working in an active screening position.
TSA administrator David Pekoske said: “TSA is making this change to protect our employees and travellers as social distancing cannot always be maintained in the screening process.”
Passengers may be asked to remove or adjust the face coverings by officers from TSA during security screening for identity verification purposes.
TSA has also planned to implement additional changes to screening system to reduce the risk and to limit interactions in the security checkpoint.

TSA stated that it is following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration guidelines for protection of workforce.
Earlier this week, Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) announced that all passengers and employees must wear face coverings in all public areas within Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) terminals.
Last week, San Diego International Airport (SAN) also made face covering mandatory for all passengers, visitors, tenants, contractors and employees while on airport property.
