Frankfurt Airport’s total flight movements last month totalled 22,838, a decline of 45.7% compared to the same period last year.

The total cargo handled was 167,279t, a decrease of 17.4% compared to March 2018.
In the first three months of this year, the total passenger numbers decreased by 24.9%.
This significant decrease in numbers was attributed to travel restrictions imposed by other countries, along with the decrease in demand due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The sharp hit to passenger numbers was slightly softened by the number of repatriation flights for Germans stranded abroad.

By GlobalDataFrom 6 to 12 April, Frankfurt Airport saw a decrease of 96.3% in passenger numbers, which fell to 46,338.
Flight movements and cargo volumes also decreased by 86.3% and 28.1% respectively.
This impact of Covid-19 was also seen in Fraport’s international airports, where passenger numbers also decreased.
Brazil, Bulgaria, Russia, India and China introduced travel restrictions, while Ljubljana in Slovenia and Lima in Peru suspended flight operations temporarily.
Ljubljana Airport saw a decrease of 72.8% in passenger traffic while Brazilian airports in Fortaleza and Porto Alegre saw a combined decrease of 37.5%.
Fraport stated that there was a decrease of 47.8% in passenger numbers in Lima Airport in Peru.
The 14 Greek Airports registered a combined decline of 58.8% while Twin Star airports in Bulgaria served 39,916 passengers, which is a decrease of 46.1%.
Passenger traffic at Antalya Airport in Turkey decreased by 46.9%, while Pulkovo Airport in Russia registered a decrease of 27.5%. Xi’an Airport (XIY) in China saw a decline of 66.1% compared to March 2019.
