Germany’s Frankfurt Airport (FRA) has reported a 1.7% growth in passenger traffic last month, serving more than 6.9 million passengers.

The airport managed 46,395 take-offs and landings and noted that aircraft movements remained at the same level when compared with the same period the previous year.

FRA noted a slight change in accumulated maximum take-off weights, a 0.5% increase to more than 2.9 million metric tonnes.

During the month, cargo throughput, which includes airfreight and airmail, reduced by 5.2% to 173,122 metric tonnes.

Under FRA-operator Fraport’s international portfolio, Slovenia’s Ljubljana Airport (LJU) reported a 4.5% increase in passenger traffic to 211,431.

However, two Brazilian airports in Fortaleza (FOR) and Porto Alegre (POA) reported combined figures of 1.3 million passengers in traffic, which represents a 3.8% drop in traffic.

This August, Lima Airport (LIM) in Peru reported a 6.6% increase in traffic to nearly 2.2 million passengers, while 14 Greek airports in the portfolio registered a combined 1.1% increase to around 5.5 million passengers.

Bulgarian airports serving Varna (VAR) and Burgas (BOJ) reported a 9% traffic drop to 1.3 million passengers in August.

Antalya Airport (AYT) on the Turkish Riviera registered 13.7% growth to almost 5.6 million passengers.

St Petersburg Airport (LED) in Russia has also registered a 5.8% growth in traffic to nearly 2.2 million passengers while Xi’an Airport (XIY) in China reported a 5.9% growth to approximately 4.4 million passengers in August.

Last month, FRA reported a 2.6% growth in passenger traffic for the first seven months of the year.
