Swedish airport operator Swedavia has awarded a contract to GateKeeper Systems to implement and manage a ground transportation management system across ten airports in the country.

GateKeeper Systems will provide the technology to track and control traffic flows around the airports and to collect fees from commercial vehicles accessing the airports.

Additionally, the ground transportation management system will be connected to existing systems, such as Swedavia’s ERP system and Business Intelligence (BI) software for statistics.

The system will initially be deployed at Bromma Stockholm Airport and Stockholm Arlanda Airport in the last quarter of this year.

It will then be implemented at the remaining eight airports of Kiruna, Luleå, Umeå, Åre Östersund, Göteborg Landvetter, Visby, Ronneby, and Malmö.

GateKeeper Systems president Brian Richardson said: “We met a large number of the requirements with our current system. But there are a few items that we’ve developed as a result of Swedavia’s requirements that will also benefit others, including globalisation, multi-factor dispatch priority, and single system for multiple airports.”

Swedavia expects the new system to decrease the environmental impact of commercial vehicle activity by restricting vehicles based on fuel type.

GateKeeper’s system conforms with the new EU GDPR laws and also features cybersecurity prevention technology.

The platform can analyse data generated from various sources and export data to other systems. It features real-time dashboards and offers data on current vehicle activity, as well as feedback on system health and status.

A single, configurable system will operate at all ten airports, eliminating the need for new software for operational changes.
