Financial services firm American Express (AmEx) has announced plans to open its Centurion Lounge at the Denver International Airport (DEN) in the US.

Expected to be opened next year, the 14,000ft² location will bring the number in the firm’s signature airport lounge network to 11.

The facility will be accessible to all passengers and located in the Concourse C Mezzanine, offering special amenities, complimentary services, Wi-Fi and noise-buffering workspaces, among others.

DEN chief commercial officer Patrick Heck said: “The American Express brand is well known for offering a high-quality experience for their guests, which aligns with DEN’s vision of the customer experience for our passengers.

“In just the past year, we’ve seen a 36% increase in air travel through Denver among US Premium Card Members booking through American Express Travel in this market alone.”

“We are pleased that we are able to offer such a high-quality product like the American Express Centurion Lounge to our passengers.”

Said to be the fifth largest in the US, the airport sees more than 61 million passengers per year, with a rise of around 12% in passenger traffic over the past two years.

American Express global benefits and services vice-president and general manager Josh McKay said: “We are thrilled to share our plans to bring one of our signature Centurion Lounges to the Denver International Airport, as Denver is one of the top airports our premium card members travel through.

“In just the past year, we’ve seen a 36% increase in air travel through Denver among US Premium Card Members booking through American Express Travel in this market alone.”

Access to the Centurion Lounge is exclusive and free for the company’s Platinum Card and Centurion Members, while other guests will be charged $50.
