US-based IT company Unisys has unveiled its new LineSight application, which detects suspicious cargo and people at border crossings and airports.

Powered by predictive data analytics and artificial intelligence (AI), the software improves accuracy in assessing border security threats and allows border agents to make critical, on-the-spot decisions whether travellers or shipments should be admitted, detained or subject to further scrutiny.

LineSight also evaluates risk for travellers crossing borders and refines the assessment process as more information becomes available, starting from the initial visa application, reservation, ticket purchase, seat selection, check-in and arrival.

“LineSight allows border agents around the world to more effectively accelerate the movement of passengers and cargo without compromising safety.”

Unisys public sector global head Mark Forman said: “Many legacy border security solutions identify potentially risky travellers and cargo based on previously known threats.

“Due to the overwhelming amount of data that has to be reviewed, as well as limited budgets and resources in governments, these old solutions can’t keep up.

“LineSight allows border agents around the world to more effectively accelerate the movement of passengers and cargo without compromising safety. The result is faster and better-informed border clearance and a safer process for us all.”
