Park Air Systems has secured a contract to replace the ground-to-air communication equipment for Denmark’s airports and en-route operations. The company is Northrop Grumman’s UK-based air traffic management (ATM) subsidiary.
The contract was awarded by the Danish air navigation service provider NAVIAIR. It will see the introduction of the new Park Air T6 radio from the Sapphire range, with 8.33kHz voice channel spacing and voice-over IP (VoIP) capability.

Furthermore, Park Air Systems will deliver the MARC Remote Control and Monitoring System for maintenance as well as provide necessary training to NAVIAIR employees at its academy in the UK.
The MARC Server is a configurable browser-based control and monitoring system. It enables management of all Sapphire assets from remote devices such as desktops and tablets.
Northrop Grumman Park Air Systems managing director Danny Milligan said: “In this tender, there was heavy emphasis on lifecycle costs and maintainability for the ATM equipment.
“We were able to produce numbers which demonstrated the reduced operating costs during the lifecycle of the T6 radio and are very happy to continue our excellent, longstanding relationship with NAVIAIR.”

By GlobalDataDesigned to work as a part of the secure digital network, the T6 air traffic control radio can support up to ten simultaneous VoIP sessions and up to four IP recorders.
NAVIAIR official Tejpal Singh Binning said: “We will be taking delivery of the new T6 radios in two batches, one in late 2017 and the next in the first quarter of 2018.
“The radios will be at the centre of our national system upgrade, giving us a communications network ready for the next decade and beyond.”
