The Aptilo SMP is a carrier-grade system to manage and upgrade large-scale Wi-Fi. It can be accessed by visitors at each Swedavia airport terminal with a Wi-Fi login portal.

Currently, around 30,000 users access the internet using Swedavia’s airport Wi-Fi service daily.

“Aptilo makes operating Swedavia Wi-Fi across ten airports with multiple terminals simple.”

Swedavia IT Platforms manager Pia Lundström said: “There has been zero downtime for 12 years with the Aptilo managed service. Aptilo makes operating Swedavia Wi-Fi across ten airports with multiple terminals simple.”

Swedavia expects the service to give it the opportunity to reach 40 million visitors each year, according to Lundström. The company operates ten airports, including Stockholm Arlanda Airport, Göteborg Landvetter Airport and Bromma Stockholm Airport in Sweden.

The company also intends to modernise its Wi-Fi service using the Aptilo SMP. This will help passengers make use of indirect payment methods, such as offering free Wi-Fi access for watching a short advertisement.

Aptilo SMP’s current portfolio of indirect payment options includes social media login, app login, sponsored access and surveys.

Swedavia was formed in 2010 and it is wholly-owned by the Swedish State. During 2015, 37.6 million passengers flew to and from its airports.
