San Antonio International Airport in the US has opened a new $178m consolidated rental car facility (CONRAC) to offer a convenient, centralised and on-site service.
The 1.8 million square feet facility houses 14 rental car firms and includes a short-term garage on the first two storeys. Rental cars are located on the remaining five levels.

It also comprises around 2,600 parking spaces, along with a quick turnaround (QTA) location for fuelling, light maintenance, vacuuming and washing.
As the facility is situated next to the terminals, it is expected to eliminate shuttle requirements, thereby allowing improvements to traffic flow in the arrivals area.
City of San Antonio Aviation director Russ Handy said: “The airport continues to enjoy great success in several areas as we continue to set record passenger numbers, add additional air service and achieve national recognition for our fantastic customer service.
“With the opening of the CONRAC, we now enjoy a state-of-the-art structure that provides customers with the convenience of an on-site, consolidated rental car facility, truly offering a first-class experience to those visiting San Antonio and the region.”
