London Heathrow Airport handled more than 6.5 million passengers in October, representing a 2.8% increase compared to the same period last year.
The Middle East attained the highest growth in passenger capacity during the month, witnessing an 11.7% increase in traveller volumes due to the deployment of larger, fuller aircraft bolstering growth in the region.

In domestic travel, additional flight services launched by FlyBe resulted in a year-on-year traffic growth of 2%, with an extra 20,000 passengers travelling with the regional airline last month.
Additionally, October has been reported to be the busiest month for Heathrow Airport to date in terms of cargo volumes.
The airport handled more than 150,000 metric tonnes of freight for the first time, representing a significant 9.2% surge during the month compared to the same period in 2016.
Heathrow chief executive officer John Holland-Kaye said: “Record passenger and cargo figures underline Heathrow’s position as a critical national asset.

Heathrow also recently launched its ‘Blueprint for Sustainable Freight’, which outlines a number of practical measures the airport proposes to adopt in order to address the impact and number of cargo vehicles around the premises, while continuing to increase freight volumes.
Furthermore, Heathrow Airport began the second National Policy Statement consultation last month to support its case for expansion.
