The Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is planning to install more e-gates at New Doha International Airport as part of a $15bn development which is expected to be operational in 2012.

The new systems will identify the passenger of a particular trip a day before boarding which will help the security agencies track suspicious passengers before they enter or leave the country.

Doha International Airport will also have advanced interactive passenger processing, risk assessment capabilities, passenger name record data processing and disaster recovery.

The system can identify whether the passenger was blacklisted or has a police record as soon as they book the ticket.

The airport will have an initial capacity 24 million passengers a year which will be increased up to 48 million a year following completion of the next phase of development.
