Nav Canada will install NAVCANstrips at Dubai International Airport’s control tower and the Dubai World Central control tower.

Under the contract, Nav Canada will provide software development, system installation, operational and maintenance training, and hardware and software maintenance.

The deployment of NAVCANstrips will be completed in the first quarter of 2012.

The system combines flight, surveillance and operational data in an integrated working position to provide the controller with fast and reliable access to critical airport, tower and terminal air traffic control information.

The NAVCANsuite features a work station with up to four touchscreen monitors that provide NAVCANatm technology.

NAVCANstrips allows air traffic controllers to manage flight data online, thereby eliminating the need for traditional paper flight strips, and it provides immediate access to key information and permits more efficient management and use of airspace and airport capacity.

Nav Canada president and CEO John Crichton said the system gets better each year, with added functionality producing new efficiency gains.

"The system helps controllers manage and transfer information critical to their jobs, safely and efficiently, with flight data available almost instantaneously on their touchscreen displays," he said.
