Burgas Airport in Bulgaria has opened a new 21,000m² passenger terminal with a capacity to handle 2.7 million passengers annually.
Airport operator Fraport Twin Star Airport Management noted that the new terminal and its necessary infrastructure involved an investment of BGL80m ($55.69m), which was funded privately.

The operations at the new terminal are expected to start within the next two weeks.
Fraport Twin Star CEO Aletta von Massenbach said: "The new terminal is the result of the intense work of thousands of people from all over Europe who have planned, designed and executed our Terminal 2: a state of the art, modern, smart terminal that we can make smaller during winter and larger in the future.
"It is tailor made for our main customers: providing excellent services to more than competitive prices and all that within holiday ambience."
Deputy minister of transport, information technology and communications Georgi Todorov said: "This is an excellent example of a successful public- private partnership. Thanks to this partnership Burgas and Varna already have beautiful and modern airports that will contribute to the development of the tourism and economy in the region and Bulgaria."

By GlobalDataThe Terminal 2, which showcases the characteristic elements of Bulgarian nature and architecture, features 31 check-in counters, three boarding-card checkpoints, nine security lanes, eight departure gates, and its arrivals area has 12 immigration stations and four baggage carousels.
It has large areas for arriving and departing passengers, state-of-the-art baggage and passenger handling systems, as well as shopping areas and food courts spanning a total area of about 2000m².
For the first ten months of 2013, Burgas Airport handled 2.5 million travellers, up 4% compared to the same period in 2012.
