Travel solutions provider Amadeus has acquired IT provider UFIS Airport Solutions as part of plan to strengthen its presence in the airport information technology space.
The acquisition adds a suite of airport technologies to Amadeus’ offerings, while providing key customers worldwide with specific focus on Asia, Europe and the Middle East.

UFIS’s products and services offerings offer specific expertise in the areas of airport operational databases, resource management systems, flight information display systems, collaborative decision making tools and hub management solutions.
The company has been offering integrated solutions for single, multi-terminal and multi-airport operations for the global airport community for more than 20 years.
Amadeus noted that UFIS specialises in enabling its customers to carry out collaborative airport management, in line with its Airport IT strategy.

UFIS Airport Solutions president and CEO Holger Mattig said: "The acquisition is very good news for our customers and employees worldwide who will now benefit from the addition of Amadeus’ scale, global reach, and travel industry expertise; a solid foundation to revolutionise the airport experience to meet the needs of today’s sophisticated travellers."
The majority of UFIS’ employees are based in Singapore, and as a result of the deal, 54 employees globally, including UFIS’ management team, will become part of Amadeus’ Airport IT Group.
Amadeus, which offers advanced technology solutions to travel providers, travel sellers and travel buyers, is listed on the Spanish Stock Exchange, and reported revenues of €2.91bn for the year ending 31 December 2012.
