London Stansted Airport served 1.15 million passengers in January, an increase of 7.2% from the corresponding period in 2013.
Air transport movements in the month increased 4% year-over-year to 10,089, while cargo tonnage fell 7.5% to 16,069t.

Stansted managing director Andrew Harrison said: "The increased number of passengers using Stansted this January compared to last year is a good start to 2014 and a signal of the airport’s future potential.
"Our £80 million terminal transformation project continues at great pace with customers already enjoying improvements to the security area of the terminal with even more changes to come."
In the 12 months to end of January, the airport served 17.92 million passengers, an increase of 2.6% over the previous 12 months.
Air transport movements during this period increased 0.9% year-over-year to 132,621, while cargo tonnage decreased 2.7% to 210, 429t.

Mr Harrison said: "The aviation market in the south-east has never been as competitive as it is right now, and to sustain long-term growth we will need to exceed the expectations of our existing carriers and fight hard to win new business and passengers."
