AviBit has announced the completion of delivery and commissioning of the Advanced Surface Movement Guidance and Control System (A-SMGCS), AviBit ACEMAX; and Electronic Flight Strip System, AviBit DIFLIS at Henri Coanda International Airport in Bucharest.
AviBit, together with Air Navigation Service Provider of Romania, ROMATSA, has completed the project with a three weeks robustness test.
The system will help increase the capacity on the movement area of the airport particularly at the times of low visibility conditions, along with increasing the efficiency of taxi operations and safety.
AviBit project manager Tobias Karns said: "The project was very challenging for the AviBit team since it included integrated A-SMGCS and EStrips while interfacing with numerous external systems.
"Two SMRs and a multilateration system as well as two SMR towers and shelters have been part of our delivery."
AviBit’s system at Henri Coanda International Airport also comprises surveillance data from the terminal approach radar (TAR); airfield lighting systems; instrument landing systems (ILS); air traffic management systems; AFTN; and ATIS.

By GlobalDataAccording to AviBit, the delivery of an Enhanced Safety Net through the integration of A-SMGCS and EStrips will further increase safety on the movement area, while improving the situational awareness to the controller significantly.
The implementation of Digital Departure Clearance (DCL) eliminates misunderstandings between pilots and air traffic controllers and lowers congestions on the ATC frequencies.
