Abu Dhabi International Airport has reported a 15.6% rise in February passenger traffic, compared with last year.

During February, the airport received approximately 1.41 million passengers, against 1.22 million during the same month in 2013.

Aircraft movements increased by 12.2% to 11,174 during the month, against 9,960 movements registered during the corresponding period last year.

Cargo activity handling grew to 56,902, an increase of 13.8% compared with February 2013.

The top five routes from Abu Dhabi International Airport during February were Bangkok, Jeddah, Doha, Manila and London Heathrow.

Abu Dhabi Airports COO Ahmad Al Haddabi said: "The year 2014 is anticipated to be another record year for Abu Dhabi International Airport, as the airport continues to register double digit growth in passenger traffic.

In order to offer better facilities to passengers, the airport is constructing the MTB, which features one of the largest terminal buildings, spreading over 700,000m²
