Space technology developer Redwire has strengthened its capabilities with the acquisition of US-based spacecraft engineering firm Oakman Aerospace (OAI).

Based in Littleton, Colorado, OAI provides advanced modular, and open-architecture space-based products and services. Its offerings are associated with digital engineering, spacecraft and satellite design and development, and more.

The deal is in line with OAI strategic ambition to enhance growth and expand technological innovation.

Redwire chairman and CEO Peter Cannito said: “Oakman Aerospace adds a critical capability in digital engineering that will significantly enhance our space infrastructure solutions.

“Their modular open systems architecture design and development approach and proprietary commercial off-the-shelf software suite are transforming the way future space capabilities are designed, developed, deployed and operated.”

Specific financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Redwire offers mission-critical space solutions and components.

For Redwire, OAI is the sixth acquisition after Adcole Space, Deep Space Systems, Made In Space, Roccor, and LoadPath.

The company was formed by private equity firm AE Industrial Partners last June.
