Kazakhstan’s Astana International Airport has installed SITA’s AirportVision flight information display systems, as part of its strategy to offer real-time flight information to its increasing passenger base.

Besides increasing information distribution efficiency, the new information systems will display graphical, video and textual information pertaining to the flight times and status, as well as weather information.

The graphic device interface (GDI) based display engine is said to be more reliable than browser-based engines.

The AirportVision system is suitable for airports of every size due to its easy to manage and highly scalable configuration.

Astana Airport deputy chairman of the board Radilbek Adimolda said: "SITA’s flight information systems give us a cost-effective way to keep passengers informed, while helping to facilitate passenger flows."

In recent years, Astana Airport and SITA have worked on an array of airport modernisation projects, such as SITA’s next generation Airport Management solution, which enables the airport to monitor and control its operations in real time.

SITA Russia and CIS vice president Dmitry Krasnov said: "Over the last two years, Astana International Airport has transformed itself into an intelligent airport, which can track, manage and share real-time information.

"Our most recent deal with Astana is a natural extension of the airport’s leading-edge airport management and passenger processing systems."

Astana International Airport, which handled 2.6 million passengers and 8.4t of cargo in 2013, serves more than 15 airlines and operates 120 flights per day both within the Commonwealth of Independent States and to other regions.
