The US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has opened a pre-check security screening centre at the Lambert-St Louis International Airport in an attempt to reduce queues.
The new application centre will allow low-risk passengers to quickly pass through security, but this screening is available only for US citizens and legal residents.

The PreCheck programme permits travellers to keep on their shoes, belts and light outerwear, in addition to allowing them to keep laptops and approved liquids or gels in bags.
In order to avail this facility, passengers have to go through a pre-enrolment process online and make an appointment at the screening centre, where they complete their enrolment by providing finger prints and documents related to their identity and citizenship/immigration status.
TSA Missouri federal security director Bill Switzer said: "This application process greatly increases the availability of TSA PreCheck benefits to a broader population of travellers both in St Louis and nationwide.
"TSA PreCheck is enabling us to move away from a one-size-fits-all approach to transportation security, as we look for even more opportunities to provide the most effective security in the most efficient way."

"They now have a convenient site to enrol in the programme and take advantage of expediting the security checkpoint process."
Following the approval, passengers will receive a known traveller number and have the opportunity to use the PreCheck lanes at security checkpoints.
Major airlines participating in the programme include Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Hawaiian Airlines, JetBlue Airways, Southwest Airlines, Sun Country Airlines, United Airlines, US Airways and Virgin America.
TSA is currently in process of expanding the PreCheck programme to over 300 application centres across US.
