US Senator Sherrod Brown said: "These improvements will enhance safety at James M Cox Dayton International Airport. These federal dollars will go a long way in sustaining travel in and out of the airport for area residents and businesses."
The remaining amount will be offered to Erie-Ottawa International Airport and Put-In-Bay Airport in Ottawa County, Michigan.
As part of the funding, Erie-Ottawa Airport will see the renovation of its 18/36 runway, while Put-in-Bay Airport will repair the pavement on the terminal apron, where aircrafts are refueled, unloaded, parked, loaded or boarded.
Both Erie-Ottawa and Put-in-Bay are general aviation airports and are managed by Erie-Ottawa International Airport Authority and Put-in-Bay Township Port Authority respectively.
