The Canadian Government is to invest a total of $318,000 in the construction of a storage building at the Baie-Comeau Airport.
The storage facility is being planned to enhance safety at the airport by protecting the de-icing materials used on the airport surfaces.

The funding will be given to the airport under Transport Canada’s Airports Capital Assistance Program (ACAP).
Transport minister Lisa Raitt said: "Our government is committed to the safety and security of all Canadians and continues to invest in airport safety by assisting regional and local airports with safety-related capital projects.
"Enhancing the safety at Canada’s smaller airports is vital to the surrounding communities and their economic growth."
The airport has already received more than $2.1m in funding for a total of six development projects, which include concrete panel repairs, the rehabilitation of the field electrical centre, the replacement of the runway sweeper and the purchase of a snowplow truck.

"Since taking ownership in 2005, our goal was to own and operate a safe and viable airport, which we do, with the assistance of ACAP."
