Lion Air Group, a low-cost Indonesian airline, has confirmed the $6.24bn order of 50 737 MAX 10 aircraft with Boeing.

The deal makes Lion Air Group one of the launch customers of the recently unveiled 737 MAX 10 aircraft.

With 230  maximum seating capacity, the aircraft can fly at a maximum range of 7,130km.

Thales Alenia Space has contracted Eutelsat Communications for the development of the highly sophisticated KONNECT very-high-throughput satellite (VHTS).

The satellite is expected to be operational from 2021. It will assist Eutelsat in extending its in-flight connectivity businesses and fixed broadband services across Europe.

The satellite will be based on the Thales Spacebus NEO platform.

JetBlue Airways has awarded a contract to Pratt & Whitney (P&W) for Geared Turbofan (GTF) engines.

“Singapore Technologies Aerospace (ST Aerospace) has secured engine maintenance contracts worth S$510m ($389m).”

The engines will be used to power 85 Airbus A320neo aircraft. The deal further includes maintenance of the engines for 15 years and delivery of 13 spare PW1100G-JM engines.

Deliveries of the new engines are expected to start in 2019.

Air Canada has chosen US in-flight services provider Gogo’s 2Ku in-flight connectivity solution.

The connectivity technology will be installed by Gogo on 170 Bombardier CS300 aircraft.

Air Canada intends to provide fast and uninterrupted connectivity services to passengers at cheaper rates.

Singapore Technologies Engineering’s aerospace business Singapore Technologies Aerospace (ST Aerospace) has secured engine maintenance contracts worth S$510m ($389m).

The contracts were awarded by the operators of Boeing 757 and 767 aircraft in North America.

ST Aerospace has also secured service extension contracts from undisclosed operators.

China-based maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services firm Haeco Spirit AeroSystems (JinJiang) has been acquired by Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering (HAECO).

The transaction will result in the renaming of Haeco Spirit AeroSystems as Haeco Composite Structures (JinJiang).

Stirling Dynamics has been acquired by French firm Assystem Technologies for an undisclosed sum.

Based in the UK, Stirling Dynamics offers engineering and design services for the aerospace and marine sectors.

Assystem intends to strengthen its aerospace and marine portfolio through the acquisition.
