Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (Sea-Tac) in Washington will use the Noise Monitoring and Flight Tracking System (NMFTS) of Exelis to get timely noise event and flight track information.

The system will comprise aircraft surveillance software solutions developed by Exelis, which will be integrated with Model 831-based noise monitors from sound level meter designer and manufacturer Larson Davis.

Exelis will provide various solutions including Symphony EnvironmentalVue, Symphony PublicVue and NextGen Data.

"Together, our proven solution will assist Sea-Tac with noise management as it continues to build upon a record number of travelling passengers, annually."

Sea-Tac Airport spokesperson Perry Cooper said: "As the United States’ fastest-growing large hub airport, having accurate and timely noise event and flight track information is an essential asset for our noise monitoring and community relations programme."

With the use of solutions like Symphony EnvironmentalVue, a web-based application hosted on an advanced geospatial information system platform, the airport will be able to provide an integrated two and three-dimensional mapping and analytical flight-tracking capabilities to its operators.

The public will be able to view aircraft flight-tracking data and submit feedback and noise complaints through any standard web browser for improved community relations with the use of Symphony PublicVue.
