Under the project, the company will provide acoustic, fire and security doors from the Powershield range, some of which feature special laminated facings and stainless steel kick plates for increased durability.

"As the UK’s only hub airport, Heathrow required a high quality solution to meet our exacting security requirements."

The acoustic doors, which can control unnecessary noise due to their special insulation, have been tested independently in accordance with BS EN ISO 140 pt 3 and calculated for sound reduction values under BS EN ISO 717-1 standards.

Assa Abloy Security Doors managing director Brian Sofley said: "Our steel doors are extremely durable and provide a high level of fire protection that could prevent the spread of fire and create maximum evacuation time for passangers and staff in the event of an emergency – an essential safety feature in busy transport hubs like airports."

Heathrow’s head of design development Barry Weekes said: "As the UK’s only hub airport, Heathrow required a high quality solution to meet our exacting security requirements.
