The MRJ will be the first Japanese commercial jet made since 1973, and will compete with regional jets from Canada’s Bombardier and Brazil’s Embraer.

The aircraft, which will be powered by a Pratt & Whitney engine, is designed to be about 20% more fuel efficient compared with other regional jets currently in operation.
