Boeing Commercial Airplanes supply chain management and operations vice-president and general manager Ray Conner said the location will provide Boeing with continued flexibility to leverage its production capability and meet the needs of 787 Dreamliner customers.
The unit will be situated near the 787 final assembly and delivery site, which will improve the efficiency of the final assembly and delivery process in South Carolina.
The facility will manufacture 787 interior parts including stowbins, closets, partitions and attendant modules.
Construction is due to begin in the fourth quarter of 2010.
