The TCAS airborne system can operate independently of ground-based air traffic control, increase cockpit awareness of approaching aircraft and prevent mid-air collisions.
The system can issue traffic advisories (TA) to assist pilots in the visual acquisition of intruder aircraft.
The TCAS II can analyse the projected flight path of approaching aircraft and issue resolution advisories (RA) to the pilot to resolve potential mid-air collisions.
TAWS can prevent controlled flight into terrain (CFIT) accidents, and display terrain and obstruction relative to the altitude of the airplane.
