The Australian Government has announced a draft plan for an international airport in Sydney in addition to a draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS).
The draft EIS is kept open for public consultation.

Proposed to be built in Badgerys Creek, Sydney’s second international airport will connect Western Sydney with the rest of the world and will boost tourism and industry.
Australian Transport Minister Warren Truss said: "The release of the airport plan and the draft EIS presents an important opportunity for the community to be informed about the airport project and its likely impact on their neighbourhood. Both documents will go on public exhibition today until Friday, 18 December 2015."
The new airport will have an annual capacity to handle about ten million passengers. Initially, the airport will a 3.7km long runway.
The airport will be equipped with swing gates and contemporary navigation aids along with land reserve for business parks and environmental conservation.

Additionally, the government expects to build a second parallel runway at the airport by 2050 to handle 82 million passengers
Truss added: "There will be a comprehensive community engagement process that will be taking place throughout the region; around 12 information sessions are planned at local Western Sydney locations and there will be also copies of these documents available in public libraries and other places.
"You will also be able to obviously access the website, which has all of the details of the EIS and it is also available in electronic form for people who would like to have it."
The EIS is based on more than 700 field investigations and 19 technical studies and includes indicative flight paths developed by Air Services Australia, noise impact modelling and assessments of expected air and water quality changes besides potential health risks.
