Oshkosh Airport Products has deployed its Striker aircraft rescue and fire fighting (ARFF) vehicle at Jean Lesage International Airport in Quebec, Canada.

The company delivered a Striker 6 X 6 vehicle equipped with a Snozzle high-reach extendable turret (HRET).

The firefighting system includes an 11,356l water tank, a 1,590l foam cell, and a 249kg dry chemical system to allow multiple-agent fire suppression capabilities.

The Oshkosh-exclusive Snozzle HRET features a perforated nozzle, a hardened carbide steel tip, and an infrared camera.

The Snozzle HRET allows firefighters to discharge water from 6.1m below grade to elevations as high as 19.8m.

Quebec City Jean Lesage International Airport Operations vice-president Serge St-Laurent said: "Our overriding objectives are safety and to provide firefighters with the best possible equipment on the market.

"We had to renew our ARFF fleet and the Striker was the very best option for both Francois Cyr, fire chief and Jean-Guy Pelletier, chief mechanic."

The two Striker apparatus feature a cold weather winterisation system and a central tire inflation system for better off-road performance.

The company had previously supplied 17 Oshkosh ARFF vehicles at airports operated by Grupo Aeroportuario Del Pacifico (GAP) in Mexico.
