Norwegian air navigation service provider (ANSP) Avinor is to modernise its existing air traffic management (ATM) system.

In order to develop its existing technology from Indra, the company has also revealed plans to collaborate with NATS, the UK-based air traffic services and innovative solutions provider, by entering the iTEC alliance.

This will help Avinor to provide enhanced services and meet requirements for the European Union’s (EU) Single European Sky programme.

Avinor will join Europe’s largest ATM system collaboration with ANSPs in Spain (ENAIRE), Germany (DFS), the UK (NATS) and the Netherlands (LVNL) alongside systems provider Indra.

ANSPs from Lithuania (Oro Navigacija) and Poland (PANSA) are also considering entering the iTEC alliance.

Avinor operates 46 state-owned airports and air navigation services for civilian and military aviation in Norway.
