Abu Dhabi-based Falcon Aviation Services has entered into a firm purchase agreement for two Bombardier Q400 NextGen turboprop jets.

The contract is worth $61m based on list prices of the Q400 NextGen turboprop.

Falcon Aviation Services chief operating officer Mahmoud Ismael said: "The engines provide substantial power, allowing the aircraft to climb over the sand belt faster than any other turboprop, and the APU allows a quick cool down in our hot environment.

"The Q400 NextGen turboprop is optimised for short-haul operations."

"In a 78-passenger configuration, the Q400 NextGen aircraft is well-suited to our operation and offers very competitive costs."

The Q400 NextGen turboprop is optimised for short-haul operations, and has capacity to accommodate 70-86 passengers.
