UK-based aircraft charter provider Air Charter Service has been appointed by the UK Government to serve as a supplier for its Department for International Development (DFID) division over the next two years.
Air Charter Service has also been chosen as part of the cargo helicopter charter framework used primarily for far-off remote destinations.
Air Charter Service business development director Lloyd Robinson said: "We have had a close relationship with DFID for a number of years and are delighted to be part of the framework for cargo aircraft charters, along with two airlines and a freight forwarder."
Cargo helicopters are also used in regions that have been struck by natural disasters.
Air Charter Service has experience in carrying out extensive helicopter operations in calamity-struck areas after occurrences of the Asian Tsunami in 2004 and the Pakistan earthquake in 2005.
