Airbus has signed a long-term agreement with Triumph Actuation Systems – UK & IOM to continue the production of its landing gear actuation systems for the A320ceo and A320neo aircraft.

Under the $500m deal, the Triumph Group subsidiary will produce the actuation systems such as actuators, valves and uplocks at its facility in Deeside, Flintshire, UK, while the aftermarket support will be provided from Staverton, Gloucestershire facility.

The group designs, engineers, manufactures, repairs and overhauls a portfolio of aerostructures, aircraft components, accessories, subassemblies and systems, serves the aviation industry worldwide.

The aviation industry being served by Triumph Group includes original equipment manufacturers of commercial, regional, business and military aircraft and aircraft components, as well as commercial and regional airlines and air cargo carriers.

Airbus also awarded a contract to Ducommun Incorporated to manufacture titanium structures for engine support of the company’s A320neo aircraft.

Ducommun expects to make these titanium engine support structures using its proprietary hot forming and super-plastic forming processes at its operation centres in Coxsackie, New York, and Parsons, Kansas, in the US.

Additionally, Ducommun secured an engineering design support contract from Airbus to improve the manufacturability, cost, and function of certain metal structure applications of Airbus’ A330neo platform.
