Singapore-based aircraft leasing company BOC Aviation has finalised a firm order for five single-aisle A321 aircraft, in addition to an order announced in January for 30 A320 family planes.

The previous order features 15 A321s, including eight A321neo and seven A321ceo aircraft.

BOC Aviation managing director and CEO Robert Martin said: “We have increased our order for the A321 in response to the market trend and appetite for larger capacity single-aisle aircraft.

“Our incremental order reflects the continued popularity, confidence and reliability of the A320 family among our customers.”

The company has so far placed an order for a total of 311 new aircraft with Airbus.

BOC’s total aircraft order with Airbus includes 12 A330 aircraft, five of which are freighters and 299 A320 family jets, including 16 A321neo and 51 A321ceos.

Airbus customer chief operating officer John Leahy said: “The A320 family aircraft is a sound financial asset as confirmed by leading lessor BOC Aviation, based in the world’s fastest growing aviation market.

“This order also confirms the trend by customers to increase capacity by upsizing to larger aircraft models.”

Airbus’ A320 family has already received orders for more than 12,700 aircraft and has delivered to more than 400 customers and operators worldwide.

Airbus recently delivered Latin America-based LATAM Airlines Group’s first A320neo aircraft.

Equipped with Pratt & Whitney Pure Power PW1100-JM engines, the newly delivered aircraft will initially be placed LATAM’s Brazilian domestic routes.
