UK-based aviation service provider Gama Aviation PLC has announced plans to merge its US aircraft management and charter business with BBA Aviation.

The combined entity will add more than 90 aircraft to Gama Aviation’s US-managed fleet and would manage more than 200 aircraft.

Via this new business, customers can benefit from the line maintenance support provided by Gama Aviation’s US Ground business, along with the FBO services provided by BBA’s ‘Signature Flight Support’ network.

Gama Aviation chief executive Marwan Khalek said: “The combination diversifies our customer base and extends our network coverage nationally whilst simplifying the financial arrangements with our US partners.

“As part of this strategically important transaction, we are also excited by the potential to cross sell our US maintenance services into the enlarged fleet.”

The merger will create a platform for both companies to expand their presence in the US and provide national geographical coverage with BBA’s West Coast fleet, complementing Gama Aviation’s East Coast business.

BBA’s business interests are operated by its subsidiary Landmark Aviation through Sterling Aviation, the company’s air carrier operating division.

Under the terms of the agreement, Landmark Aviation will contribute its complete ownership in Sterling Aviation into US-based Gama Aviation LLC.

In addition, Gama Aviation PLC will transfer its 49% ownership in Gama Aviation LLC into a new holding company known as GB Aviation.
