US-based National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has awarded a $113m deal to Vencore to support its national environmental satellite, data and information service (NESDIS).

With a one-year base period with four one-year options, the deal is part of NOAA’s systems engineering and technical services (SETS) contract.

Through NESDIS, NOAA acquires and manages the US’ operational environmental satellites.

NESDIS also operates NOAA’s National Centres for Environmental Information, which provides various data and information services, performs official environmental assessments and conducts related research.

As part of the newly announced deal, Vencore will also work with NESDIS to provide systems engineering services and solutions to sustain legacy systems, as well as enable the transition of future ground systems for new environmental satellites such as the GOES-R and JPSS. 

Employing 3,800 people, Vencore currently provides various information solutions, engineering and analytics for various civil, defence and intelligence communities of the US Government.
