India’s new full-service airline Zoom Air has been launched with an inaugural flight from Delhi to Durgapur, West Bengal.

Promoted by India-based Zexus Air Services, the airline will initially operate in several major cities such as New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Hyderabad.

Zoom Air will operate Bombardier CR-J200 LR series twin-engine aircraft, which were previously used by Club One Air in India.

Of the three aircraft to be operated by Zoom Air on dry lease from Ireland’s Crj Aircraft Leasing, two have already arrived in the airline’s base in India.

Powered by CF34-3B19 engines from GE Aerospace, the aircraft are equipped with 50 seats, and quiet cabin and fast cruise technology.

Zoom Air CEO and director Koustav Dhar was quoted by Hindu Business Line as saying: “Zoom Air shall fill the gap of sectors that are less catered to, by other scheduled airlines.
